Nasir El-Rufia's Unbriddled Tongue

Did he actually tweet these? One really wonders what he came to do in Anambra since he has said lots of trash about the State. He says he goes to court on Monday; but Obi has no apology. The analysis of the above utterances however, is urgent.

Umeh Replies Ngige: Says He’s a Fake Politician, Liar

Following the complain lodged to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerian Police by the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr Chris Ngige, alleging of assault and battery of one of his aides, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh has described the claim as false and described Senator Ngige as a “fake politician.
.
In the petition, Senator Ngige claimed that the said aide was beaten up, while one of his campaign vehicles was snatched at gun point at Agulu, the home town of the Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi,

APC and the ruling party in Anambra State, APGA have been in each other’s neck over some issues which range from the Uke church stampede, defacing of billboards and posters and attempted murder among others.

Chief Victor Umeh while fielding questions from journalists in Awka, stated that: “Ngige is a man who is not used to keenly contested process, he is a fake politician and a liar. All the elections that have been conducted in Anambgra State have all been ruined with controversies trailing him. In 2003, he rigged the election and didn’t win. In 2010 and 2011, he also rigged elections and failed. Now in 2013, he has gone all kinds of underhand tactics to bring the election to disrepute because he knows clearly that he has no chance.

“So, what he complained to the INEC Chairman, Atahiru Jega and the Inspector General of Police, IGP M. D. Abubakar are the things he does in the dark but raises false alarm to confuse the masses and that was why I was quick to point it out to the IG and INEC that Ngige in a civilised society should not be running for governorship election again having been confirmed to have stolen the victory of APGA in 2003.
“Nobody would have tolerated him as a governorship candidate in a civilised country. We are used to his antics, he is known for fermenting troubles here and there but APGA is a non-violent party and we don’t want to join issues with him because he already knows that he is going nowhere.”

Anambra poll: Watch Ngige – Umeh tells Jega

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has warned the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to keep an eye on the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Chris Ngige, in the Saturday governorship polls.
Umeh said ignoring Ngige may be the first mistake of the commission in the party as he (Ngige) was capable of a lot, especially when it had to do with irregularities in elections.
Speaking with journalists after a stakeholders meeting between the INEC and relevant stakeholders in Anambra State on the coming election, Umeh said Ngige had committed the worst election crime in Anambra State, and had a reputation of stealing votes, and as such should be watched closely.
He stated that Ngige was the first to commit election crime against Anambra people in 2003 when he and his godfather stole Obi’s mandate and went ahead to govern the state illegally for close to three years.
Umeh who was reacting to Ngige’s complaint to the INEC chairman that his supporters in Anaocha Local Government Area had been continually intimidated by Governor Peter Obi and himself said that the last person that should complain about malpractice in election should be Ngige.
“In 2003 he unleashed electoral fraud on people, and was the first governor in Nigeria to be removed by the court for rigging. It is not true that APGA is sowing uniforms of security agents, rather the police and INEC should pay attention to Ngige, because usually when he complains like this, he has something up his sleeves”, he stated.
Umeh commended the INEC for their plans for the election, saying that the order to stop police protection for governorship candidates on election day is a good one.
He equally called for security of money bags in the state be stopped as they were the ones who usually caused trouble with their aides.
“These money bags have started arriving the state, and I tell you they are capable of a lot. These people have power, money and contact, and because of their business interest, they usually use their security and contacts to intimidate the people, so we call on IG to also stop their security”, Umeh added.

We didn’t announce Obiano alleged disqualification – Ngige Campaign Organisation

The Chris Ngige Campaign Organsation has dismissed reports that it sent bulk SMS messages announcing the pupported disqualification of the candidate of All Progressive Grand. Alliance, APGA, chief Willie obiano.
It also insited that Obiano registerd twice, describing it as breach of the electoral act.
A statment by the interim spokesperson of the All. Progressive Congress,APC, Okelo madukaife described the allegations as baseless.
The statement reads:  ”The Chris Ngige Campaign Organsation (NGIGE 2014) is aware of a news report  suggesting that our Organisation may have issued bulk short messages (SMS) announcing the disqualification of Chief Willie Obiano of APGA from the Anambra State gubernatorial election holding today.
“We wish to distance ourselves from that accusation and note that nothing
can be further from the truth.
We know if for a fact that the APGA candidate is registered twice, has his name appearing twice on the voter register and is therefore in breach of the electoral law regarding double-registration

BUT THESE SMS  ARE GETTING OUT OF HAND. STOP THE MESS!

Anambra Election: APC Slams Police For Arresting Election Monitors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the police of acting out the script of the PDP for Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra state  by arresting election monitors from Osun State and labelling them as thugs.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the report that a ‘crack team’ of the police in Imo State had arrested 180 ‘armed hoodlums carrying fake voters cards, official identity cards of INEC and independent Observer identity cards’ is nothing but tales by the moonlight.
”Those who were arrested by the increasingly partisan police are election monitors from Osun, who are members of the Justice and Equality Organization, an INEC-accredited election monitoring NGO. With INEC having trained key officials of the accredited election monitoring NGOs, those trained are now training their members in readiness for the election. Those trained by INEC are in Owerri.
”Those whom the police have labelled as thugs are members of the Justice and Equality Organization. They are in Owerri for training ahead of the election. They chose Owerri because of its proximity to Anambra and its affordable hotel costs. None of them is a member of the APC, despite the insinuation by the police, and none is armed, because you don’t need guns to monitor elections. Any weapon exhibited by the police must have been procured by them to justify their gaffe.
”The only offence that the arrested election monitors have committed, in the eyes of the police, is that they are from a staunchly APC state with zero tolerance for the do-nothing, bumbling PDP,” it said.
Meanwhile, APC has called for extra vigilance from all Nigerians in general and the party’s members and supporters in particular, in order to thwart any attempt by the police and their collaborators to ruin Saturday’s election.
The party said the need for vigilance has been heightened by the fact that key institutions of state that should ensure a level playing ground for all parties in the election appear to have been compromised, going by the blatant partisanship
of the police and the seeming inability of INEC to prosecute electoral offenders, including Willie Obiano of APGA, who has been proven to have registered multiple times.
It implored all the APC agents for Saturday’s polls to pay particular attention to the accreditation process.
”In line with the INEC Manual for Election Officials, the number of accredited voters must be counted and announced loudly for all to hear. Also, the number of voters in the Register of Voters in each polling unit must be announced loudly. Then the number of voters in the register and the number of accredited voters must be entered in Form EC8A and/or Form EC8A (1) before voting starts.
”None of our agents should sign the result sheet without accurate numbers of voters in the register and the number of accredited voters being duly recorded in the necessary columns in the Forms,” APC warned.
For the umpteenth time, the party called on INEC to ensure that Saturday’s election is free, fair and transparent, and on the security agencies not to allow themselves to be used to hinder the right of the people to elect their own leaders, because the world will be keenly monitoring the election on Saturday.
